President Ruto has said Africa must take charge of its development, calling on the need to work together towards ensuring that growth is relative in the continent.
He said the Continent’s leadership must find ways of implementing Vision 2063 and fund it as much as possible. A vision set for, by African nations to be able to attain;
- Incomes, Jobs, and decent work.
- Poverty, Inequality, and Hunger.
- Social security and protection Including Persons with Disabilities.
- Modern and Livable Habitats and Basic Quality Services.
AUDA, under the New Partnership for African Development, should work with other formations for faster implementation of the continent’s Vision 2063.Agenda 2063 – a shared strategic framework for inclusive growth and sustainable development – was developed through a people-driven process and was adopted, in January of 2015, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by the 24th African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government,
The President explained that for Africa to make the necessary transformational strides, the youth — who have the requisite drive, energy, and skills — must be fully involved—urging on the significant role that has to be played by leaders in ensuring that youths are well inducted and involved in the nations’ operations and governing.
“These are Africa’s greatest resource; we must be particular about their education and training,” President Ruto said.
He was speaking on Thursday 19th January at State House, Nairobi, when he held talks with the Africa Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA- NEPAD) CEO Nardos Bekele-Thomas.
President Ruto expressed Kenya’s support for the Agency as he challenged fellow African leaders to embrace the essence of growth in various sectors all around. This would involve agriculture, trade, and education sectors as well as strengthening the ties between the countries for the better of the African continent.
He further said that the AUDA, under the New Partnership for African Development, should work with other formations for faster implementation of the continent’s Vision 2063.
