Rise in Temperatures Signals a Growing Global Warming Crisis

Global warming entailing a continuous increase of Earth’s average surface temperature is highly impacting the weather patterns and outcomes in various regions of the world considering its impact on the melting of glaciers and ice caps. The impacts of this global warming include the severity of the heat waves, droughts, floods, and hurricanes as well as an increase in temperatures noted to be at 1.22 degrees Celsius this year.

The causative of this increase in temperatures is attributed to a rise in the greenhouse gases (GHG) that include carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere which traps the sun’s heat hence the warming up of the planet.

With an increase in the levels of these greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the oceans and seas remain the only absorbers of these gases from the atmosphere. This also causes massive ocean acidification while there are some levels of acidity that are harmful to marine life in general.

Global warming is further resulting in the melting of glaciers and polar ice caps which in turn leads to a rise in the sea levels that causes humans suffering since they have to relocate due to loss of land.

Therefore global warming is not only a threat to human beings but also to animals both on land, air, and in the oceans & seas. Based on the Climate Change 2023: Synthesis report, it is noted that humans are wholly responsible for all aspects of global heating.

The report emphasizes that this has occurred over the past 200 years leading to a current temperature rise of 1.1°C above pre-industrial levels, which has led to more frequent and hazardous weather events currently faced.

Hence the report calls for the adoption of numerous ways that can limit or reduce global warming. Some of the ways this can be actualized are through the adoption of cleaner energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, mainly reducing the use of fossil fuels.

Exercising to reduce, reusing, and recycle will assist cater for the energy deployed in making more new products thereby decreasing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, which produces methane, that’s a GHG.

Another major move will be fully switching to environmentally friendly means of transportation that includes; efficient vehicles, hybrid vehicles, or electric vehicles and some even opting for walks or bicycles.

There’s concern over response actions enacted in climate action and support policies that are aimed at reduction of carbon emissions and promoting sustainable practices. This is because the action is slow while the impacts are incessantly increasing around the world.

Therefore involving everyone through educating them on this info will assist everyone playing a role in the mitigation of the effects through engagement in proper methods, strategies, and sustainable practices in combating global warming.
