The humans – Asa the tree

Yesterday was a long day

A bird on my branch lost an egg

Two eggs

She was confused

So she gas lit herself

Into thinking she never laid any

The sun was warm

The grass was dry

I know because I drank all the water

They killed my offspring right before me

Said she’d make a nice chair

I have no idea what that is

But I doubt it’s more important than rain

When the birds came back, they had to relocate

To a new location that seemed safer

I think that’s when the egg was stolen

When they passed by me saying goodbye

They thought the humans would have me next

I hoped they would just leave me alone

Not the birds

The humans

They were being so rude

Didn’t even ask for my consent

Didn’t ask my offspring either

Just took what they wanted

With no regard for the other creatures dependent on it

“That will make a nice chair”

Well it made some nice homes too!!
