- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) is expected over parts of Burundi, and central to southern Tanzania.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) is expected over coastal regions of Tanzania, Kenya, the Red Sea region, as well as parts of northern Tanzania and western Rwanda.
- Dry conditions are expected in the rest of the region.

Rainfall Anomalies
- More than usual rainfall is expected over central to southern Tanzania and coastal regions of Kenya.
- Less than usual rainfall is expected over Tanzania’s eastern and western regions and parts of Rwanda and Burundi.
Exceptional Rainfall
- Rainfall exceeding the top 10% on record is expected over parts of central Tanzania.
Temperature 01 – 08 January 2025
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) are expected over most parts of South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) are expected over central to northern Sudan, central Ethiopia, northern Somalia, central to western Kenya, and western regions of Rwanda and Burundi.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures are expected over most parts of the Greater Horn of Africa.
Heat stress
- Cautionary heat stress levels are expected over eastern regions of Tanzania and Kenya, southern Somalia, and eastern South Sudan.
